Event Description

Tony Donoghue Memorial MOONE 10k 2017. Full details of this year's race including our chosen charities will follow soon.

Tony was a inspiration, proving that it's never too late to get fit. Having recovered from a serious illness, he took part in the first of his fourteen marathons at the age of sixty five, raising thousands of euro for charity in the process.
In 2010 he founded the Moone Kilomarathon and 10k. The Moone Kilomarathon was the first in Ireland, a 'metric marathon' of  26.2 kilometres (16.3 miles) rather than 26.2 miles. Over the past 7 years the event has raised thousands of euro for Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children Crumlin, Barretstown, Cystic Fibrosis Ireland and our local national school, St. Colmcilles's in Moone.

Getting There

Moone is a small village in south County Kildare, famous for its 7th century high cross.
It is easily accessible from the M9 Dublin to Waterford motorway. Dublin City Centre and Waterford City Centre are both only an hour's drive. Newlands Cross, Kilkenny City and Portlaoise are 45 minutes. Carlow, Newbridge, Naas and Kildare Town are less than 30 minutes.
