RACE REPORT
The Royal County 5k and 10k hosted by Meath Sports Partnership had a great event today in Kells, Co. Meath. The weather conditions were ideal with very mild temperatures and slight breeze. This is a well established event now for many years and has become a must do event among the local community and clubs around Royal County.
Over 400 runners walkers and joggers attended both races. The high level of organisation contributed to a great participant experience. We had music commentary, great event t-shirts and loads of fun at today's event. The event is very much about promoting activity and community spirit in the area. Some local schools also took part along with some virtual participants who wanted to feel part of this years event.
The 10k race started at 10:30 and 5k at 11.00 am. The winner of the mens 10k was Sean Murphy of Trim AC. The winner of the women's 10k was Aileen Briody of Bohermeen AC.
The 5k mens race was won by Lea Fulcher. The women's race was won by Edel Gafney of Trim AC.
Well done to all involved for making this a highly successful event. St. Brigid's AC, Meath Sports Partnership, Heaford Arms Hotel, Traffic mgt, Gardai and most all the participants.
