Event Description

The third annual Loreto Bray Challenge is a magical race around the beautiful landscaped Killruddery House & Gardens estate in Bray, Co.Wicklow, taking place at 12 noon on Saturday 1st April 2017.  With a stunning location nestled between the Sugar Loaf Mountain and Dublin Bay, Killruddery House & Gardens is one of Ireland’s best kept secrets. Widely known as the “Gateway to the Garden of Ireland”.

This AAI approved race will follow the same course as the last two years starting in full view of the magnificent Killruddery House.

Getting There

Killruddery is situated 20km south of Dublin, just beyond Bray, Co. Wicklow.

1. By Car
Killruddery House is just off the N11 outside Bray so is very easy to get to.
If you are driving from Dublin, you take the “Bray South / Greystones / Enniskerry” exit 7 from the N11.
After the slip road, take a right (3rd Exit - "Greystones") at the Topaz roundabout. At the next roundabout, straight through.
Drive past Shoreline Leisure Centre (on your left).
Follow the signs for “Killruddery House & Gardens” for approx 1km and the main entrance to the estate is on your right hand side (before the Ramada Hotel).

Organisers Instructions

The course is primarily an off-road trail course - the perfect opportunity to get off the pavement and add variety to your running. Instead of cars and noisy traffic, you will have the pleasant sights and sounds of Killruddery’s farm livestock in the neighbouring fields.

Participants will start right in the heart of the spectacular Estate. After running out through some fields, you will start the gradual climb up towards the Little Sugar Loaf Mountain. With stunning views of farmland rolling down into Dublin Bay on your left, overlooking Bray Head, Wicklow Bay and Greystones, you may find it hard to concentrate on your running!!!

The final part of the course brings you back towards the House itself, through a magnificent forest trail. You finish back where you started from, running down a tree lined avenue in full view of the main house.

The 5Km is a single loop, while the 10Km is a double loop of this stunning course. Finishers medal for each participant, plus a great atmosphere, will guarantee a fantastic race day for all.
