RACE REPORT
Today saw the running of the Lap of the Gap marathon, half marathon and a new addition of the 3 mile on an absolutely stunning day.
On arrival at 6 am you could not see your hand in front of your face for the mist and fog - but oh my word- when that lifted - what a view the runners had to keep them occupied during the races; miles and miles of beautiful mountains and valley with every spring, summer and autumn colour rolled into 1 - "breathtaking" was 1 of the description and that was only the view :-) they still had the race to run.
The morning got underway with the early marathon start of 7:30 am, they were a party of 18 (these guys got to see the beauty of the sunrise along with the mist disappearing. This was followed an hour later with the main marathon start. By now the mist and fog was gone, the sun was up, revealing some of Ireland's most beautiful landscape, and the birds were singing to set the marathoners on their merry way.
Soon after; the half marathon and the newest event to the program - the 3 mile were underway with the same beautiful send off the marathoners had.
