Eirgrid Dunboyne 10k

RACE REPORT

The new Dunboyne 10k proved to be a huge success for Dunboyne A.C. This event was previously the Dunboyne 4 mile. Over 1,000 registered for the new distance and flat course. The distance and course was a big thumbs up by participants as times were fast with many recording PB performances. This Meath race was highly organised with vast support from many other athletic clubs. Clubs from Meath, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Louth, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow and Clare all made the trip.

The club was also celebrating its 50th road race indicating their long standing tradition and experience of hosting such events.

As with all Dunboyne road races many well known and top athletes took to the start line. The very much in form Hiko Tonoso of Dundrum South Dublin won the race in a time of 30:06. Hiko was followed in by a constant trail of top athletes indicating the quality of the field. The Ladies winner was Barbara Cleary of Donore Harriers who is also performing well of late.

For teams results Raheny Shamrcok A.C. took the mens title and Mullingar took the ladies team prize. Host club Dunboyne A.C. were 2nd placed team for both the mens and ladies categories. This may prevent bragging rights within the club between the mens and ladies teams.

Well done to all participants, organisers and volunteers for another fantastic event.
