RACE REPORT
The Dromiskan 5k was an incredible success this evening in the wee county Louth Village. Just under 500 runners took to the local roads to support the 2 organising clubs of St. Peters AC and St. Josephs GFC. The race HQ was in the local GAA grounds with the race start and finish lines directly outside. Logistically this was great for the runners experience. Many fine Athletes showed up to battle each other and race for the Club team glory. The event attracted a very large number of couch to 5k runners from the area. The event was a large part of the Village life for the past number weeks getting prepared for the big day. Club singlets from Louth, Meath, Monaghan and Dublin were on display.
The Race was very close from start to finsih. The battle for top spot was between 2 Dublin club Runners.
Freddy Stukk of Raheny Shamrock AC and Valdas Dopolskas of Balbriggan runners gave each other a tough and hard race. This a was part 2 of their battle from last week in Ardee. Freddy who had just won a 10k race earlier in the day finished the stronger for the win in a time of 15mins 02secs.
The female winner was Rose Lamb of Carrick Aces. Video of Rose's victory can be seen below.
