RACE REPORT

Begooly A.C. hosted their annual Dick Copithorne 4mile on St. Stephens Day in Cork. Belgooly is situated just a few mile from Cork city and attracted over 600 runners. This weather was considerably mild but a heavy mist descended on the the runners just before the race. It did avoid the heavy rain and winds that hit the South of the country the night before and what predicted later in the day. The event attracted some fine Runners from local Athletics Clubs around the county and further a field. The majority of runners were looking to support their local event and enjoy the day out with family and friends. This event has become part of the calendar and eagerly awaited every St. Stephens Day in Belgooly.

The winner of this years race was Alan O'Shea of Bantry AC in 19:25 and the female winner was Niamh Moore of Leevale AC in 22:51.

Well done again to Belgooly AC, participants and spectators for making this a highly successful event.
