Analog Devices Adare 10k 2019

RACE REPORT

The Analog Devices Adare 10k celebrated it's 25th year of success. The race sold out in record time with 800 runners snapping up limited places. Like previous years today's race was very well supported by Athletics clubs from all over the country, Cork, Clare, Dublin, Kerry, Tipperary, Waterford and Wicklow. Many of the Athletes have taken part in previous years of the Adrare 10k and return year after year.

The host club West Limerick AC have created one of Limericks and Munsters finest 10k events. Their dedication and attention to detail has made this a must do event for runners. The before and after care given to runners creates a very welcoming and friendly event. The club has also managed to attract very fine athletes combined with those who just wish to take part for fun and well being.

The race itself started at 1pm on Station Rd. The route took them briefly onto to the main street before taking an right and looping them back to the finish line, close to where they started.

The Men's race was close with some house hold names in the road race Scene in Ireland. We had a great race, with many of the top runners pacing each other to record some very quick times despite a stiff breeze in their faces for the home straight. The Winner Rory O'Connor from North Cork A.C. broke the course record in a time of 30:43. Last years winner Sean Hehir of Rathfarnham WSAF was not far behind in a time of 30:53, and finishing 3rd was Alan O'Shea of Bantry A.C.

The Women's race was also filled with some fine athletes. Again we had some well known names within running circles. Munster lady Barbara Cleary of Donore Harriers was just shy of the Course Record missing out by 6 seconds to finish in a time of 36:06. Siobhan O'Doherty of Borrisokane A.C. was second and another Munster lady but running with Donore Harriers (Dublin) was Ide Nic Dhomhnaill.
