RACE REPORT

 

   

 

     

Great action was seen at the Waterside Half Marathon in Derry. Freddy Sittuk of Ranheny Shamrock AC had a fantastic battle with Scott Rankin giving great excitement at the Finish Line. Over 2,000 runners took part in this annual event consisting of individual runners and Relay team runners. Hundreds of spectators cheered on their friends and family at both start and finish lines. The event takes an enormous amount of time and organisation to ensure all goes well on the day and according to plan. Runners from all over northern Ireland and southern Ireland attended today's race. Well done to all participants who contributed to a fabulous atmosphere. As Always the City of Derry is a very welcoming place for tourists and runners to visit. This weekend was no exception. The weather conditions were warm for running with some feeling the effects at the Finish Line.

     Prizes were awarded to all age categories in every 5 years from over 40 to 80 for both male and female. Team prizes were awarded to top male and female team with 3 to score.
