RACE REPORT
The WHM Derry Half Marathon attracted over 1,900 runners for this year's event. This is one of Northern Ireland's largest events. The morning welcomed runners with some heavy rain but this did not deter spirits. The Gods looked down before the race started and we were treated to some fine dry weather. This event was very well orgainsed by Derry & Strabane District Council and with the help of local Athletics Club City of Derry Spartans. Much credit must be given for a fantastic event. Many people take part to raise funds for local charities in the local area.
This years race was won by Freddy Stukk of Raheny Shamrock A.C. We witnessed a great finish for a Half Marathon event. Declan Reed from Derry of City Spartans lead the race leading onto the track with 200m to go. Freddy with his second tight race in successive days pushed home to over take Declan on the home straight.
The Female winner was local lady Catherine Whoriskey of City of Derrry Spartans. The event also had a relay challenge. These results along all the Half Marathon are listed below on links.
