RACE REPORT
46km of Running , Hiking, Cycling Heaven.....
Saturday September 9th, 6 am - oh no!! wellies and wet gear required as the rain continued to fall as it had for most of the night, not very encouraging. Finish line being built in the rain then on to the start line - we plough on as we know that almost 800 people are relying on us to get their times....

9am race start and it looks like the whole 800 have turn out to run on this beautiful Waterford 46km Greenway - what a stunning sight, the rain has subsided, the air is warm and a little fresh, bit of a breeze going on all makes up for perfect running conditions.

Clubs from various corners of the country had entered this once again SOLD OUT event, it's fast, flat, safe and screams out for PBs to be set, and I know there was a few set alright.
Today's male winner was Trevor Power from Waterford AC in a superb time of 1:11:25, he was followed by club mate Noel Murphy with; again Waterford AC Mark McKenna making it 1, 2 and 3 for Waterford AC, 1st male home for the host club - West Waterford AC was Raivis Zakis in 1:14:28.West Waterford also won the men's team prize. (teams were made up of runners who were outside the overall or age cat prizes.
In the ladies end of the race it was again Waterford AC stealing 1st place - Ruth Fitzgerald in another super time of 1:21:59, the cycle was broken then by Orla Tuohy from Grange Fermoy taking 2nd place in 1:25:13 and Slaney Olympic whipping 3rd place - Julie Kirwan 1:26:01.
Team wise - St Finbarr's took 1 st place with host club taking 2nd.
