Waterside Half Marathon Derry

RACE REPORT

Over 2,000 participants took part the this years Derry Waterside Half Marathon and Relay. This is certainly one of Northern Ireland's Premier Half Marathons. The setting for the Start line located in Ebrington Square was stunning over looking the historic walled city of Derry. Ebrington Square it self is also another historic site within Derry.

The event was part of the Athletics Northern Ireland Championships. This added to the excitement and quality of the event. This event had it all from quality runners to joggers and walkers. Each and every participant were given top class treatment. The event was organised by the Derry Strabane Council with many local partners involved like City of Derry Spartans and many more.

The event certainly promotes activity and well being within the City of Derry and across Northern Ireland.

The race was won by Gideon Komosop of 1Zero1 Athletics. There was a real dog fight for the pack coming behind. Not only was individual glory at stake but team prizes were also up for grabs.

The Ladies winner was the very consistant and top class athlete Anne Marie Mcglynn of Letterkenny A.C.
