The Monaghan Town 10 & 5 Miler 2018

RACE REPORT

This year's Mongaghan Town 10 Mile & 5 Mile had a new race HQ right in the middle of the town centre in front of the Courthouse. This proved to be a massive hit with runners as the atmosphere leading up to race start time was electrifying. There was a real party atmosphere to get participants in the mood. The town was in great spirits as the Monaghan County Footballers were also in action in Croke Park for the All Ireland Semi final.. The race was finished in good time for fans to make it to the local pubs to see their team in action.. Many Tyrone fans were also taking part in the race.

The race itself provided us for a very tight finish. Freddy Sittuk and Isku Ousman moved away from the field early on. They two played cat and mouse until the last 100m when Freddy turn moved up gear to out sprint Isku. The provided great excitement for onlookers. Any Nevin of Mullingar Harriers took 3rd spot very comfortably with another fine performance..

Nicola Flanagan of Blaney Rockets ran away with victory to win the female category.
