The Long Woman's 5K Fun Run / Walk is back for its 3rd year! The aim of this run is to raise enough money to be able to purchase much needed sports equipment and aid teaching staff in the delivery of the PE curriculum for Scoil Naomh Lorcan, Omeath.
The 5K run/walk will be open to participants of all abilities and will take place in what is arguably the most scenic stretch of the Cooley peninsula, from Tullagh Bridge to The Long Woman's Grave and back again. Where both runners and walkers can breathe in, fill their lungs and embrace the natural beauty and capture the outstanding views across Carlingford Lough to Warrenpoint and beyond.
Refreshments will be served afterwards at Tullagh Bridge

Legend has it at The Long Woman's grave, there lies a 7ft tall Spanish beauty, of the Royal line of Spain, who was swept of her feet and fell madly in love with a local man named Lorcan O'Hanlon while he was trading in the Cardiz region of Spain. Lorcan boasted of his vast land he had back home, and as folklore goes when his Spanish bride first set foot on his mountains in Omeath she became so overwhelmed with the place that she sadly suffered a heart attack and died!! and here she lies ever since that fateful day when Lorcan's heart was broke.

Dont miss out on this great event!!
