SIAB INTERNATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY 2019 (2019)

RACE REPORT

The SIAB International Cross country took place in Santry today. Schools from the home nations participated for national glory. Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales fielded teams to score in Junior, Inter and Mixed Relay categories. The future of all home nations rests with these upcoming stars of the future.Young athletes were selected from their national championships.The very best of each home nation were on show.

The event was hosted by the Irish Schools Athletic Board along with Athletics Ireland on behalf of the Schools International Athletic Board.

The location was perfect as a cross country venue and the hosts certainly gave the participants, coaches an on lookers a great experience the Santry Demense. England had a clean sweep of team wins with Ireland winning some well earned placings and medals. Probably the most exciting of all events was the newly introduced Mixed Relay event where our young Irish stars gave spectators some thrilling action. Ireland led on all legs apart from the last leg where England race ahead in the final stretches to win.

There is no doubt that this was a superbly organised event with all participants, coaches and supporters heading home very happy indeed, after a very enjoyable day.
