This year's Rita & Robbie 5 hosted by Navan AC on behalf of Claremont Stadium was a cracker. Everything on the day went so well with fabulous running conditions filled with some great race action. This race is always a must do event on the 27th of December and this year was no different. Families, friends and club mates all joined in the festive fun.
Before the main 5k the usual kids races provided some excitement and much needed fresh air kids.
The race itself was packed with some fine athletes and this can be seen from the results. There were some real tough battles all the way to the finish which were brilliant to see. All athletes had a real race on their hands. They will certainly feel all the better after getting some racing to push them on further.
Thomas Moran of Dunshaughlin AC had a storming performance winning the race in a time of 14:46. Gavin O'Rourke of Leevale AC was 2nd in a time of 15:09 and Eoin Smyth of Tara AC finishing in 3rd.
The ladies winner was Ava Costello of Trim AC in a time of 17:37. Just behind pushing all the way was Laura Buckley of Dunboyne AC in a time of 17:43. Edel Gafney of Trim AC was 3rd. Well done to all who took part.
