RACE REPORT

The new flat and slightly down hill course for the Pat Finnerty 5k proved to be a big success for Mullingar Harriers with some high profile Athletes taking to the line. Runners, joggers and walkers all took part. The course was a point to point 5k straight downhill road. Runners were transported very well by bus to the start and taken back by bus from the finish/ The orgainsation was at it's best and undertaken by a long established Mullingar Harriers club. Cormact Finnerty former Olpympian was the race director for his Dad's memorial race(Pat Finnerty). 

Another former Olympian Shane Healy also made the trip for this new event on the the racing calendar. The Race was won by Peter Samba of Dunboyne AC. Both Peter and Shane took an early lead with Peter pulling away km by km. 

The female winner was Emma Mitchelle of Queens University. There was age categories for over 40, 50, 60 and Junior and Senior.
