Midsummer 5k Drogheda & District AC

RACE REPORT

The Drogheda & District AC Midsummers 5k brought out just under 600 runners to the streets of Drogheda. Running conditions were ideal for participants, with very little wind, and bright sunshine in 13 degree temperatures . This race has become extremely popular since it's inception in 2012. Runners from local near by towns and clubs from Drogheda, Dundalk, Dunleer, Stamullen and Annagassan were all in strong attendance in tonight's event. The Course itself gave runners a taste of urban running and Country Roads.

All Runners were treated to refreshments in local pub Gleessons. The Drogheda & District Club put together an extremely good event with a high degree of organisation and local co operation with local Gardai and Authorities.

The Winner of tonight's race was Colin Maher of Ballyfin in a superb time of 15mins 27 secs. The Female winner was Michelle Kenny from the Cork Club Leevale AC. Age categories were also awarded on the night. The host club Drogheda & District AC performed well in the Team results. They took top spot in the male Team category and 2nd in Female Team results. The winners of the Female Team results was Dundalk's North East Runners. Full Results are available now.
