Lusk 4 Mile Road Race & Fun Run
RACE REPORT

The 3rd Lusk A.C. 4 Mile was a great success with over 850 runners signing up. The weather conditions in the previous 2 years were tough going for organisers and participants with heavy snow and cold condtions. This year we had some lovely sunshine and dry spring like conditions. This added to what was an already great experience for runners. Lusk A.C. have been growing their club numbers in both under age and adult structures giving them some notified success over the past number of years. This event is an example of how they have dedicated much of their time and efforts to the club. The event attracts many athletes from neighboring clubs indicating the high regard it has built up over just 3 years. Many local fun runners also look forward to the 4 mile.
The race provides spectators with a great spectacle and entertainment due to the set up of the 4 mile route. The start and finish areas on Chapel Rd Green make this participant and supporter friendly. The runners also run back through the Green area after about 1.5 to 2 miles after they started, before finishing again. Music, commentary, and after treats in the local National School all added to the experience for runners. The day kicked off with some fun races for children. The green area was ideal for these small distance races. Over 200 children had great fun and hopefully we will see them in the years to come competing in the Lusk 4 Mile.
The race was won by Sean Doran of Clonliffe Harriers. We witnessed a great toe to toe race between the top 3. Sean, Scott Rankin of Foyle Valley A.C. and Ieuan Hopkins of Brothers Pearse A.C.
The women's race was won by an in form Kate Purcell of Raheny Shamrock A.C. with Muara Kearns of Donore Harriers in 2nd and another in form athlete Sarah Quigley in 3rd place.
The Team event was won by Raheny Shamrock A.C. with 4 to score and based on all athletes to score from the club both male and female.
Well Done to Lusk A.C. and all volunteers and local business for contributing to a great event.
