LeInster XC Senior and U23
RACE REPORT

Athletics Leinsters Uneven ages, Senior & U23 XC championships was held at the fabulous and stunning Avondale Forest Park in Wicklow. Local club Parnell A.C. hosted the event along with Wicklow Athletics.
The course was in fantastic shape with some real tests for athletes. As a spectator it could not have been better as they could see the athletes in view from multiple times over a short distance.
The Start had a steep hill and straight before heading onto the main looped course.
Athletes had to contend with a steep hill on all laps. It certainly made athletes work hard.
The Senior Women's race was a close race for long periods of time with Fiona McKenna of UCD AC and Una Britton of Kilcoole AC taking the lead. Fiona won the overall battle followed by Una and Lisa Madden of Sportsword RC taking 3rd position.
Ruth Kennedy of Gowran AC wone the U23 race.
Clonliffe Harriers won the Senior team title helping Dublin win County team.
The Senior men's race started fast & furious with Raheny Shamnrock leading out the charge. Raheny took positions 1, 2 and 3 from early on, this remained right to the end. Daniel Stone won the race followed by Mick Clohisey and Gavin Eccles in 3rd, Dylan O' Brien made up the winning team as 4th scorer.
The top 3 ran close knit and midway through the race Daniel Stone took off and never looked.
Team work won out today with St. Abban's and Sli Cuallan all running well together in tight groups for most of the race whuch lead to St Abban's taking 2nd team and Sli Cualann 3rd.
Dublin won the County team with Laois 2nd and Wicklow 3rd.
