Irish Life Health Novice & Juv Uneven Age XC
RACE REPORT

The Irish Life Cross Country Novice & Uneven ages took place in the fabulous grounds of the WIT Arena in Waterford. The WIT Arena provided athletes and travelling supporters with state of the art facilities, from dressing rooms, cafeterias and parking. A large attendance was present for the last XC competition for 2017. It certainly looked like Athletes preferred to run a good Cross race instead of battling the busy shopping complexes around the country. The weather was very mild compared to the recent cold conditions we witnessed over the last couple of weeks.
All races from U11 through to the Novice events were hotly contested. The course itself was very testing with some fine hills to contend with. Athletes knew they had been involved in a hard earned battle after their event. This year has seen record numbers register for the Autumn and Winter XC events. This is a great sign for the the future for athletics in Ireland among young people. Long may this trend continue.
The main Novice events were very exciting with some fierce battles for places. The shorter distance for Novice gave rise to a high attendance and lead to some very fine racing.
