Drogheda & District AC Midsummer 5k

RACE REPORT

Drogheda & District AC Midsummer 5k Run took place tonight and brought with it participants of all abilities. This event is growing year on year with a record number of over 650 tonight. The support both locally and further a field is apparent with runners as far as MSB, Lagan Valley and Sportsworld along with local runners from Boyne AC, Star of the Sea and Cillies AC to name just a few. The route of this 5k is great with a fantastic downhill finish allowing ample opportunity for PB. Drogheda & District run a Couch to 5K programme in the lead up to this event and it was brilliant to see them all completing their 5k with smiles on their faces after just 6 short weeks of training.This years race brought with it 2 new winners with the overall winner being Valdas Dopolskas from Balbriggan and District AC completing the course in 15:45, female winner Nicola Bull who only 8 weeks ago took the title for the local Boyne 10k had a brilliant result finishing in a time of 18:38. All participants were presented with a fab finishers medal and got to celebrate their success with a BBQ.
