RACE REPORT

The 10th running of the Drogheda 10k took place in Drogheda town centre today. This event is renowned for its big race atmosphere that is hard to match anywhere in the country. The Narrow main street creates a cauldron of noise with music, commentary, spectators and the 1,700 participants that take part every year. The Drogheda & District A.C. club certainly know how to entertain the crowds.. Fintan Reilly from Dunleer A.C. and highly respected in athletics circles provided the spectators with great information and excitement over the Finish line PA.

This event is very much part of the make up of Drogheda and neighboring towns and villages. Many local business's, charities fitness clubs and athletics clubs join the fun every year. One local fitness that packed up in numbers was Sean Kilroy fitness keeping the town healthy.

A course record was also broken by Paddy Hamilton of Slieve Gullion AC in at time of 31:39. The ladies race was very competitive with Emma Mitchell taking top spot in a time of 36:58.

This was also part of the Louth Championships which includes results.

Well done to all participants, Drogheda & District A.C. and volunteers for a fantastic event.
