D15RC Suicide Awareness 5km Race Day Information
The annual D15RC Suicide Awareness 5km race will take part on Saturday 30th December on a lapped route within the grounds of the Sport Ireland Campus, Blanchardstown. All participants are to be at the starting area for 9.15am ready for the official start time at 9.30am. The start area is located beside the hockey pitches as marked below.
Parking is available in front of the Hockey Pavilion, the National Aquatic Centre, The GAA Development Centre and also at the National Indoor Arena. We would like to encourage participants to car pool, where possible, and be mindful of other people using the facilities within the Sport Ireland Campus.
Toilet facilities will be available on the morning as Sport Ireland Campus will be opening up the Hockey Pavilion for participants.
There will be a temporary road closure in place between the start line and the National Indoor Arena for the start of the race, the remaining roads on the course will be closed for the duration of the race. As participants approach the final straight to the finish line they will be required to cross the now open road, this crossing will be marshalled to ensure participants can cross over safely and without disruption to their race. We do not anticipate a high amount of traffic on this road on the day.
Race numbers have been posted to participants registered on or before 18th December. Any participants registered after this date will collect race numbers on the morning of the race from 8.30am please ensure if collecting race numbers on the day you leave enough time to do so. If your number has not arrived please collect a replacement number here on the morning too.
The race chip is attached to the back of your number, failure to wear the chip properly means no official time or place will be recorded. Please wear your number pinned to the front.
The race will start at 9.30am. This is a self-seeded start so please ensure you position yourself in the start area appropriately. If you are a jogger or walker please do not line up at the front of the race. Please be considerate to other participants and to the marshals and volunteers along the route. Once you have crossed the finish line please continue forward and to the right where you will have your hard earned medals waiting for you along with water, bananas and a bar.
There will be a trophy presentation commencing at 10.30am for 1st placed Male and 1st place Female which we kindly ask the winners make themselves available for the presentation.
The course map is below, there will be marshals along the route to ensure no deviation from the course but please take a moment to study the route. There is also a race route video available to look at on @d15rc Instagram account.
Finally, Sport Ireland Campus have been very generous in providing us with their facilities to allow us to organise this race for a great charity, we kindly ask that you dispose of your litter correctly in the bins provided.
