RACE REPORT

The Cloyne 5k was another great success this year with just under 400 runners taking to the streets and surrounds of Cloyne in East Cork. East Cork is a hot bed of running and this event certainly provided some great racing. The event was highly organised by the Cloyne 5k crew. As ever runners were treated extremely well at the event with some fine hospitality and after food treats. Runners form all regions of East Cork, North Cork, Cork City and beyond took part. Runners, joggers and walkers enjoyed their evening in Cloyne.

There was a talented field of runners as ever for this event. The weather conditions were ideal for racing.

Runners tucked tight into groups as they battle for positions all the way to the finish. Both the male and female categories were hotly contested.

The spectators and support on the streets of Cloyne added to the atmosphere in the East Cork Village. This event has taken to the local residents with open arms. The winner of the race was the popular Michael Harty of East Cork AC and the female winner of the race was Michelle Kenny of Leevale AC
