Castlepollard 5k

RACE REPORT

Castlepollard 5k hosted by North Westmeath AC proved to be another great event. This year the event introduced children's races up to age under 16, which added to the event atmosphere and family welcome that is always evident in Castlepollard. This event now in it's 16th year, is a long established race with many participants returning each year. This evenings race was very well supported by locals within the community along with neighbouring running clubs. Other counties that had clubs running were, Offaly, Longford, Roscommon, Meath, Louth, Dublin and Kildare. The race committee could see all of their efforts been rewarded with the large numbers that attended and the compliments that followed after the race. As ever the after race hospitality was fantastic with no one going home on an empty stomach.

The race was packed with some fine runners. Clonliffe Harries Athlete Sean Doran won this years race. Sean was in hot pursuit by Stephen Cannoy of Celbridge AC and Peter Mooney in 3rd.

The female winner and in a recent hot streak of good form was Michelle Cox of Newbride AC.
