RACE REPORT

Gowran AC hosted their yearly 10 mile, 10k and 5k in Dungarvan, Co. Kilkenny. This event like previous years attracted large numbers with just under 800 taking part across all events. There was a very strong sense of community spirit as many locals came to enjoy a fun family day out. Most families took part in the 5k run while those running to compete and battle for honors took part in the 10 mile and 10k. The 10 mile has built up a strong and high reputation for been a great race. Many high profile athletes have taken part in the Stook 10 Mile. The 10 Mile included a Flying Mile between miles 8 and 9. This is a downhill section where runners are encouraged to go all out to see how they perform on the downhill section of the course. This is of course if they have energy left after racing the previous 8 mile. The course itself is a good testing route to give runners a good blow out. They would know they have run a good challenge. The finish line was located in the local cemetary and community hall.
