British & Irish Masters 2024

The British and Irish Masters Cross Country International is an annual Masters Cross Country race held between England, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The event first took place in Wrexham, Wales in 1988. In total around six hundred athletes will represent the five nations. Each participating country will hold their own trial race to determine their international team members. The rotation ensures each of the participating countries will host the event once every five years. You can view the past list of winners here

The event consists of four races (women, men over 65, men 35-49 and men 50-64). There are also open races for the reserve athletes from each team.

The women and M65+ men will race over 6Km whilst the men aged 35 – 64 will compete over 8Km.
Competitors will race in the following age categories:
Women 35-39, 40-45, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+ 4 to run, 3 to score
Men 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 6 to run, 4 to score
Men 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+ 4 to run, 3 to score

There are three perpetual team trophies that are to be awarded at the Championships. These are:-
Men’s Combined Teams Overall Winners
Women’s Combined Teams Overall Winners
Overall Combined Men and Women’s Teams

The method of scoring for the award of these trophies is 5 points for first team down to 1 point
for the last team, scored for each race, according to team finishing position. Final result is
obtained by adding all age group points together.

Medals to be awarded to the first three individuals and the first three teams in each age
category. Team medals will be awarded on race positions of the first four team members in a team of
six and the first three in a team of four, calculated on their own age group race.
ALL team members, in the first three teams in each age category, will receive a medal.

Provisional Timetable
Team photos will commence at 10am at Billy Neill Park on 16th November in the following order: England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Republic of Ireland.

Provisional timing for the races are as follows:-
Race 1: 11.00am W65 to W75, M65 to M80. 6K.
Race 2: 12.00pm W35 to W60. 6K
Race 3: 12.45pm M50. 6 to run 4 to score each team. 8K. M55 to M60. 8K.
Race 4: 1.30pm M35 to M45. 8K.
Open Race: 2.15pm. All age groups. 6K and 8K.
