Battle of Clontarf 10 Mile
RACE REPORT
The annual Battle of Clontarf 10 Mile was another great success today with a record entry of just under 500 runners signing up for the event in beautiful St Anne's Park in Raheny. The atmosphere was building with the slight chill in the morning air, the light drizzle gave way to beautiful sunshine and the competitive banter between rival clubs adding to the Easter Monday holiday feeling. The host club Raheny Shamrocks set the standards for the year with the huge success with the AXA Raheny 5 mile at the end of January and the National Road Relays being hosted and held in Raheny on the 23rd of this month.
Spectators from afar came out to watch the battle commence as the famous Harry Gorman sounded the hooter for the start of this ever growing event.

The Male Winner of the 10 Miler was
Paul Stephenson
of
Rathfarnham WSAF

Followed by Mark Kirwan from the host club of Raheny Shamrocks in 2nd and Linsey Gordan in 3rd

The Female Winner was
Tallaght AC'S Laura McDonnell

with Dunboyne's Jane Bandila and St Joseph's Sally Forristal in 2nd and 3rd respectfully.

This event attracts Club runners from all over the province as the Leinster 10 mile road championships are incorporated into this event. Pat and Dick Hopper of the host Club Raheny Shamrock A.C. can definitely stand up and be proud of their achievements.

Greetings from Boston as our very own Ronan Wogan completes the Boston Marathon as a fantastic time of 2:51 in some-what testing condition over continious rolling hills
