The 9th Ballintotis 4 mile was another great success for the local East Cork Village, attracting over 900 runners. All types of runners came to the small village to enjoy a great evening of entertainment and racing. A high class field of Athletes took to the start line. James McCarthy who had won all previous 8 years races was looking to take another to add to an already incredible achievement.
The race was extremely close with Sergiu Ciobanu, Michael Harty, James McCarthy and Paul Moloney were all in close proximity until Ciobanu and Harty started to pull away. Michael Harty of East Cork AC stormed up the home straight to take top spot and a course record in the process.
The Ladies race was won by the inform Fiona Santry, also of East Cork AC. Many other battles were played out on the course for age category prizes. Well done to all involved in Ballintotis and surrounding area who made this a great event. The hospitality in this part of Cork is well and truly top class.
