RACE REPORT

Balbriggan Roadrunners had their annual Summerfest 5k. The weather stood up to the event name with fantastic sunshine greeting participants. This was a very well organised event by Balbriggan Roadrunners who support many other races around the country. It was evident that that they picked some very good tips on event management. They created a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Race HQ was in St. Molagas Nat School, which was ideal for race number collection and the after refreshments that were on offer after the event. A fine selection of food was provided. The course took runners along the coastal path ways along the sea front providing some stunning views on a summers evening.

The race itself was won by Stephen Kelly of Drogheda & District AC. The ladies winner was Aoife Parrella of Star of the Sea AC.

Great support by surrounding clubs was evident by the range of club singlets on show. The Luminous yellow tops of host club Balbriggan Roadrunners certainly brightened the place with Balbriggan & District AC with their sky blue also showing strong. Other clubs that strongly supported were Drogheda & District AC, Star of the Sea AC, Clonliffe Harriers and many more. Running is certainly strong and popular in the North Dublin area.
