RACE REPORT
The Aware Christmas Fun Run took place today in brisk festive weather. The event which is now an annual pilgrimage attracted just under 2,000 runners joggers walkers and pets. The brisk conditions added to the festive feel and cheer. Vital funds were raised for the Aware charity who provide important services for those suffering with depression. This event not only raised funds but also helped bring people together who suffer from depression.
Taking part in events like this help promote physical activity and healthy life styles, which contributes the mental well being of all. Participants of all ages took part today. Adults, children, families and Corporate companies all enjoyed a fabulous day in the park. The event hosted a 5k and 10k option so people of all abilities could take part. The 10k consisted of 2loops of the 5k route.
Well done to the participants and sponsors for contributing to making this event a huge success. The winner of the 10k was David Flynn and the female winner was Ruth Kelly from Sportsworld RC. The winner of the 5k was Arnar Petursson. The female winner of the 5k was Annette Kealy of Raheny Shamrock A.C.
