RACE REPORT

Another hugely successful event hosted by Athletics Ireland. The location was Abbottstown Sports Campus just off the M50 providing participants with easy access from all parts of the country. This year also encompassed a fun run element with the Spar Cross Country Xperience. This was for those who may not want to run competitively or just looking to experience what cross is all about. The course was the same course that will be used in next years

The under age races were very well attended with some fine performances on show.

The Adult races also provided some fierce competition. The master athletes were battling for places for the upcoming British and Irish Masters championships later in the year. The Senior Athletes were also looking to put on a good show in order to show their credentials for future team places on the Irish European XC team in 2019.

The Male Senior winner was Sean Tobin of Clonmel AC. Kevin Dooney of Raheny Shamrock AC was 2nd and another Clonmel AC athlete Kevin Maunsell was 3rd.

The Ladies race was won by Shona Heaslip of An Riocht with guest visitor Mahairi McLennan in 2nd and Mari Johnston of Sligo AC finishing 3rd.
