An Cosantoir 10k and 5k Walk
RACE REPORT
The 41st running of the An Cosantoir 10k took place in the Phoenix Park. This was also celebrating 100 years of the Irish Defence Forces. We had 2 years of virtual events that were hugely successful.
The virtual event seemed to have sparked ex serving members and current serving army to take part this year. It was one of the most successful to date.
Over 1,500 signed up for the 10k with a further 200 overseas and a 5k walk. This was right up there. Well done to the Defence forces for a great event.
The race was won by Josh O'Sullivan Hourihan in a time of 30:58, in 2nd was Conor Tiernan and Paul Mitchelle in 3rd place.
The women's race was won by Tahlia Britton in a time of 39:04. In 2nd was Louise Nolan and in 3rd was Tara Kahn.
There was also a declared team with 2nd Brigade 27 Inf Bn taking the glory and very well deserved. Before the main race we also had the Block race.
Each Unit of 25 members needs to run together and finish with 20 at the one time. The team is as good as its weakest link.
