RACE REPORT

The VHI A Lust for Life 5k in Galway Race Course went down a treat for participants. The Lust for Life Charity has helped many people, young and old in the country get through tough mental times in their lives. This is the second year of Lust for Life events and the first time the event has come to Galway. Ireland's top Musician Bressie has been the driving factor in promoting the events. Through the events Bressie has helped motivate the nation to get out and run, jog or walk. Any form of activity and social interaction helps the nations state of mind. Bressie has helped remove the stigma attached to mental health.

The weather was not ideal for today's 5k but this did not stop a great event or atmosphere been created. People gathered from early morning for the 10am start. They were in great company with one of Ireland's top PA sports commentators Joanne Murphy. Joanne entertained the crowd with music, lively banter and had a real sense of charm with participants.

Nearly 400 runners enjoyed a great 5k event that consisted of 2 laps surrounding the Famous Galway Race Course. The success was aided by the huge efforts made by Athletics Ireland and the Galway County Board Athletics. Also without the backing of VHI and the Irish Independent Fit Magazine these events could not take place.
