Race director Martin O’Sullivan of Tralee Harriers has created a new marathon route for 2017 that is sure to be of interest to experienced runners and newcomers alike - and has also developed new 10k and 5k runs as part of the Kerry’s Eye International Marathon Series.

Further Information

Backed by the experience of the Tralee Harriers, the Series now expands to four runs - the full marathon and half-marathon and shorter 10k and 5k events - all taking place on March 18th. The International Marathon Series also features the Valentine’s Weekend 10-mile event, and the Rose of Tralee 10k in August.

“These events are for everyone - whether you’re an experienced marathon runner hoping for a personal record, someone trying a half marathon for the first time, or interested in shorter-distance running with the 10k and 5k. “As race director, it’s important for me to bring more inclusion to the series, which is why we have added the 5k and 10k races.”

Organisers Instructions

Beginning and ending at the Wetlands in Tralee, the Kerry’s Eye International Marathon heads north towards Ardfert and Banna, around Curraghane and out to Barrow West, before turning back towards Spa and the finish in Tralee.
The punishing climb of Barrow Hill and the relatively exposed stretch along Fenit Pier have been omitted. The intention is that the new marathon route will remain unchanged for the next five years.
