Tom Brennan 5k Road Race

A Great start to 2017 in the Phoenix Park for the Annual Tom Brennan 5k. Over 700 runners signed up for the New Years day event. This was also part of the very popular Lord Mayor's 5 Alive Challenge, which promotes healthy lifestyle and encouraging people to take part in series of events in the Dublin region. All types of runner, jogger and walkers came to the park to ring in the new year, by taking a healthy step forward.

Many Dublin Clubs along with Meath, Louth, Laois, Kildare and Wicklow were all gunning for glory. The Race was a very competitive race as ever. The 2 lap course provides spectators with plenty of action and also helps runners push that bit harder. The winner was Daire Bermingham of Raheny Shamrock AC, closely followed by the host clubs runner Peter Arthur of Liffey Valley AC. Raheny Shamrock won the Men's Team Prize.

The Female winner was Barbara Cleary of Donore Harriers. The Female team winners went to Liffey Valley AC. This was a very well organised event that has increased in numbers over the past few years. Well done to all in Liffey AC who put together this fabulous event.
