This very popular Half Marathon will take place on September 10th 2016. This will be the 5th year of the event. This is one of Ireland's Premier Half Marathons attracting 1,500 runners at a sell out. Event Description
The AAI certified route starts at St. Aloysius college and will take you along the banks of the river Shannon out to and around Clonown before you turn and return in the “old” Ballinasloe road back to Athlone.
Water stations are located at miles 3, 6, 9 and the finish line.
Toilets are on the route in Clonown village (at 4 mile point) and at Kenny’s garage as you come onto old Ballinasloe Rd. (at 8 mile point). There will also be toilets available at Start/Finish area and in the grounds of St. Aloysius College near registration.
The total elevation gain over the 13.1 mile route is approximately just 70 feet!!!
