RACE REPORT

The 2nd Annual Erin's Run 5k attracted another great turn out with nearly 600 registering for this event. There was Massive support from the local village of Termonfeckin, Clogherhead, Drogheda, Dunleer, Dundalk and the list goes on. The event started with a lively warm up session &  music to get all particiants fit for the run ahead. The event was very well supported with plenty of onlookers at the finish line. The after tea, coffee, sandwiches, cakes, bars etc were extremely welcome and delicious. The  Mugs of tea handed out were the biggest ever to be witnessed at an event. They were not shy in their hand out. Well done on a chilly day....

 

Erin's Run is an event in memory of Erin Curran, 6yrs, who passed away on 17/09/14. The event was created in 2015 to raise funds for the charities involved in helping Erin & her family during her short life. This year all funds will go to 5th floor Paediatrics in Our Lady of Lourdes Hosptial, Drogheda, Co. Louth. This Special little girl has made her mark in Her short period with us. 

 

 The event is one of the largest events in the North East. The Venue of An Grianan makes this an excellent environment to bring all the Family along. A big thanks to Drogheda & District AC who were heavily involved in organising, Marshaling and supporting the event 

 

For the Second year Running Simon Ryan (Raheny Shamrock) who is local man won the overall race. Laura Mathews of North East Runners was the Ladies winner.  Well done to all who took part in today's fantastic event. A special mention to Erin's Cousin Ciaran Farrell who was third in the Boys under 12 event. Ciaran who is only 7 has  a great future ahead of him. Great to see so many young children taking part  and enjoying the event.

There are some fantastic events coming up in the local area over the coming weeks. Next Week in Stamullen Run 4 Enda 5k will take place.  

There will be pre registration on Sunday 21st in Centra Stamullen 2-4pm and also on Thursday 25th at Lourdes stadium Drogheda 7-9pm.
There will also be registration on the morning of the run but pre registration is always appreciated.

 

 

Boyne 10k 2016

 

 

 Then the Big Big event in the area, the mother of all events The Boyne 10k. Get training and be ready for the Challenge. This years date is May the 1st. at 3pm..
