Duleek & District AC 5k

RACE REPORT

Duleek 5k took place today with a fantastic 333 runners signing up for the event in the East Meath Village. The Village is a hot bed of running with families from all over the parish taking up the healthy lifestyle. The race attracted many club runners from Meath, Louth and Dublin. Balbriggan Roadrunners along with Drogheda & District were among the large contingent of visiting clubs. The home town Club Duleek & District AC also had large numbers taking part in their own event, whilst organising a great event at the same time. On a very windy day the turn out was excellent with a real community feel to the occasion. Everybody knew everybody with plenty of chat before and after the event over cakes and treats

The race itself was competitive with the local clubs looking to out run their running mates. The top 3 males were of high Qaulity with Valdas Dopolskas of Balbriggan & District AC coming home in a winning time of 15:40. Following Valdas was Barry Donovan form Cork club Leevale AC and local man Simon Ryan of Rahney Shamrock AC finishing 3rd. The Weather conditions effected and reduced times for all runners. Age category prizes were awarded to over 40, 50 and 60 for both male and female.
