RACE REPORT

Dunboyne AC hosted their Carton House 6k Trail Run in the stunning grounds of Carton House. This is an idyllic location for a race or any event. The event always attracts good numbers as it offer something different for runners and walkers.

There is a sense of fun and relaxation compared to a real competitive road race. It still has that great club feel but more relaxed and time out.

That said there are those who turn up to win and be very competitive. Before and after the event runners mingled and had their chat and catch up at race HQ located beside the boat house that is also a feature in the grounds of Carton House.

The course is mostly grass and gravel trails that runs through the golf course.

Peter Somba from the host club took glory and 1st place in very impressive time of 19.43. 2nd was Conor Burke of Celbridge AC and in 3rd was Sean O'Connor of Dunshaughlin AC.

The women's race offered some good competition but it was Karen Costello of Dunleer AC who took top spot in a time of 22:58. Laura Buckley of Dunboyne AC was 2nd with Michelle Bohan of Mullingar Harriers in 3rd place.

Ther were alos age category and team awards. The mens team winners were Trim AC and Dunboyne AC were the women's team winners.

After teas coffess were served up with what we can say only delicious cakes baked from Dunboyne AC members.
