RACE REPORT

Ardee & District AC hosted their 5k with a great turn out and hugely supported by local people in Ardee. Many other clubs also attended. Over 360 signed up for the event with a further 40 taking part virtually. This was one of the first races to host both Real and Virtual results along side each other.

The race itself was a one way street for Raheny Shamrock AC athlete Kieran Kelly. Kieran has been performing well lately and this was just another step in the right direction. The Ladies race was won by another Raheny Shamrock AC athlete, Siobhan Eviston. This was also a ladies course record set by Siobhan.

Denise Toner of Clones AC gave Siobhan a great race all the way to the end. Denise has also been running well of late and had a great run in last weeks Bohermeen AC 5 mile.

The teams also provided some competition with Raheny Shamrock AC having a good day by taking the mens team prize while, Clones AC took the ladies team top spot.

Many athletes are excited about the lifting of restrictions with plenty of race action coming up over the next few months. This was a great opportunity to get the feel of racing in a real event again.

Well done to Ardee & District AC for hosting the event and bringing great joy to many local people within the area. The main focus of the event was aimed at getting people together again and promoting a healthy lifestyle. This truly a great success for the Ardee club.
