RACE REPORT

This years Cross Country Even Ages and Novice event was held in the the New Forest Golf Club, Tyrrellspass, Co. Westmeath. This was and excellent location and venue. Easy access made for a high attendance to the event. The Novice races for both Men and Women had a huge increase in participation rates. This maybe a reflection of how Athletes has moved from leisure Road Running, towards Club Running and taking part in Cross Country. Another factor was due to no Masters categories taking place until after Christmas. Many Masters runners took part in today's Novice events. The weather conditions were extremely mild and kind to runners. This made for good running. The course itself was challenging with plenty of up and down hills. However, the course did hold up very well, leaving the surface slightly easier underfoot for the Athletes. Both Novice events were very hotly contested by Clubs and Counties. As ever the under age categories were very well attended providing a bright future for Athletics and Cross Country
